PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Input and maintain comprehensive health records on all students as directed by the School Nurse.
2. Evaluate and treat students who are ill or injured at school or during school events; obtain ambulance service for serious conditions, notify parents, and prepare required paperwork.
3. Alert parents when their student is sick, injured, possibly contagious or when immunizations are not in compliance with state regulations.
4. Administer medication according to school district policy; assist students who perform blood sugar testing and evaluate results.
5. Record state mandated physical and dental examinations and medical conditions, daily prescription, and height and weights. 
6. Maintain communication with the School Nurse or necessary agencies regarding health concerns of students, including but not limited to abuse, pregnancy, eating disorders, and CHIP and lunch eligibility. 
7. Perform set up for the district doctor, dentist, and RN to perform screenings.
8. Evaluate students who seem troubled and refer them to guidance counselor for follow up; counsel students regarding hygiene at the request of teachers.
9. Follow routines and practices for the health room as established and supervised by the School Nurse; calculate daily log and daily medication log.
10. Assist RN with drug screening as needed.
11. Assist RN with outreach programs including but not limited to food baskets, Kiwanis, and staff collections for sponsored programs.
12. Perform other duties as assigned by the Certified School Nurse.
